Horizon scanning involves identifying medical devices and development trends that may be relevant for national joint introduction. In order to be relevant for nationally organized introduction, the products should not yet be widely introduced in Swedish health care and there must be added value in a joint regional action.

The work with horizon scanning is carried out in collaboration between the Dental and Pharmaceutical Benefits Agency (TLV), National Program Areas (NPO), the regions' networks and companies. The MTP council's evaluation group is responsible for the horizon scanning, and selecting products relevant to joint introduction.
