Previously there was a risk of selection of antibiotic resistant bacteria in wastewater in Sweden. However, in Region Stockholm sales have been decreasing a lot since 2011, and now the risk of resistance development is considered to be low in the region.
Other information
Cefuroxime has in many regions in Sweden been replaced by cefotaxime due to cefotaxime's better effect against gram-negative intestinal bacteria.
